Long weekend (Thanksgiving)

Posted: October 6, 2012 in Random thoughts

There’ll be no streams this weekend as I’m spending time hunting down a turkey and spending time with the family.Polycast is still being recorded live later today, so you can still get a weekly dose of Civ 5 discussions there.
New LP coming Monday or Tuesday, with Xcom EU likely making an appearance on my twitch channel soon.

Happy thanksgiving! If you need any ideas for LP’s how about a wide, Russia, pangaea science victory.

    Happy Thanksgiving,

yeah cannot wait to try out xcom as well…
@ Mathew, can you give more insight as to why Russia and especially why wide?

by definition wide would mean stomp enough people to call it “wide” first then stop where you could actually end the game by more stomping and spend a number of turn making the game longer by going for science…

Personnally i just have troubles using other starting policies than liberty on higher difficulty settings (immortal and above); I just find honor to set you too far behind on many aspects and tradition to be too slow of a start.. Or maybe i just find liberty to be plainly better overall to start with.

It is getting kind of boring though to always have the same starts, therefore i would love to see you prove i’m wrong :)

My suggestion: a honor start with a balanced mapscript (ie. great plains might be nice for a change) and an underdog civ (maybe germany, the Netherlands)

Or a tradition start on a crowded pangea where you are actually not in a nice and cosy corner ;)

now which victory type you want to go for with those would be irrelevant, i’d just appreciate the insight on how to cope with the different starts :)

    Regards

What I had in mind was an ICS, without religion, and without domination as the primary VC. It would increase the aggression of other civs towards you, making the space race more interesting. Four city and OOC science VC lp’s are fairly common but I don’t remember seeing one with ICS. Also Russia for the added role play, and I would like to see how to use kreposts for the border growth if its even needed.

Or if you feel like doing a scenario again, i have failed time and time again to complete the “fall of Rome” scenario on Deity using the Eastern Romans (bonus internetz for also getting the achievement there ;I)

  4. Barefooterable says:

Oh no, another game? I bought endless space because of you ;)

  5. God of Kings says:

New LP did not come today. I understand your situation.

  6. Monthar says:

Here’s an idea, alternate weekends of streaming Xcom and Endless Space. Then you’d have a weekend of Polycast + Endless Space and a weekend of Civ 5 + Xcom.

As for LP’s you could go with:
    Mon, Thurs – Civ 5
    Tues, Fri – Endless Space
    Wed – Xcom

This way you can cover all the bases.

MadDjinn, I recommend that you upgrade the bandwidth limits, so that you can upload three games’ videos more efficiently. I know that it would keep you extremely busy.

  7. BloodyFox says:

    Sooooo?

  8. AliVaja says:

I guess your long weekend still continues since there`s no new civ LP. :D :|

    • MadDjinn says:

yeah… I got sucked into Xcom and haven’t had the extra time to do a civ LP yet. One will be made soon.

      • MoRm says:

It’s that good eh? I’m terribly excited and anxious at the same time, given the original xcom is one of my top fav games, heheh.

      • MadDjinn says:

It’s fun, definitely, though it can generate some RNG hate once in awhile (multiple misses at 80% can be painful if they’re clutch shots).
