As some of you already know, I’m streaming XCOM: EU now (Classic/Ironman South America start). For this week only, I’ll stream at 5pm EDT (2100 GMT/UTC) every day. As per usual, I’ll also upload it to Youtube for anyone who misses the streams.
After this week, I’ll try to incorporate it into the streaming cycle alongside the Civ 5 LPs, Beyond the Monument show, Endless Space and Polycast.
Here’s a look at the first video in the LP:

Nice playing it myself, classic is the way to go for me.
I can’t imagine Impossible…
is that form today the 15/10 or tomorrow the 16/10?
from today. If you missed it, it’ll be up on my youtube channel in about an hour or so.
Watched it on youtube as it kinda is right on my playing hours, but was fun ;O I think we have the same approach of overwatching our way to victory, but i think i tend to prioritize scopes a tad more than you on pretty much every body but supports. (It definitely is great to *help* ensure assault characters scoring twice on their two-shots ability.)
Also, i put the +hp boosts on my characters as i can for terror missions as you need to advance fast(er) and may run close range into Chrysallids.. other than this, yeah i don’t bother either.
One thing i didnt understand however was how the foundry project supposed to upgrade the scopes doesn’t seem to really do much. Maybe i misread something but it still gives +10 no matter what..
regards
yeah, I’m not sure about the upgrade to the scopes either. I picked it up in another game and didn’t notice if it was actually doing anything. I’m pretty sure it adds to critical % chance.
Also, i saw you chose to go for “Damn Good Ground” with your Snipers; maybe it’s a matter of personal preference, but i did the same at first and found that with the amount of pistol usage i HAD to do later on, the Gunslinger promotion is overall a better choice i think… at higher promotions, snipers go well into the 100-105 natural accuracy range, and i found the damage bonus to be invaluable when cumulated with the relevant foundry improvements
I usually make 2 types of snipers. One for open maps and one for UFOs/building maps. Pistols are best when they are heavily upgraded, but only when you can’t get easily flanked.
Gonna stream xcom today? At same time?
At the end of the final episode some asked if you’d showcase the Elite Soldiers pack even though you already were since you pre-ordered. Now I know why they asked that. Those of us who didn’t pre-order can now buy the Elite Soldiers pack as a DLC for $4.99 on Steam. I just picked it up myself. So, now everyone will have the option, if they buy the dlc, be able do all the cool colors and armor changes you did, even if they didn’t pre-order.
everyone has the option to buy the pack Monthar, i do too even though i have the elite pack as well. As with any other dlc on steam, to tell if you have it already, you should right click the game, and under properties there is a “DLC” tab
this one is called Xcom: Ennemy Unknown – DLC1 and in front the aquisition method.
Sorry, read your post backwards, my bad
Hey Maddjinn, I’ve been really enjoying your LP’s lately and have been sharing your frustration when it comes to XCOM. I did a little hunting around to see if there was someone out there that had figured out some good combat tactics for field missions and I found this guy. Check it out he’s got some really useful strategies you could use and he hilarious to boot. Hope it helps. http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=7VX0LPvly4U
Hey Maddjinn, Hope you check your blog comments soon, here is another Ironman impossible series to look at. This guy, Zemalf, is both a strategic and tactical genius, Beaglerush (above) has a better tactical style but is a bit loose sometimes where Zemalf is very careful, his base management is also flawless except for not getting early arc throwers for the weapons tech boost. I’m on part 16 of his vid’s ( month 4 of ironman impossible ) and he hasn’t lost a single guy. Check it out it will solve all of your x com blues.
